Mission
To develop high quality recordings and videos through cost efficient devices. To sell and promote original digital media content throught the internet.
Dig Dat has invested tens of thousands of dollars in recording equipment for artist developmet. Although this is not a large investment compared to big-name sutdios, the value of our equipment is comparable to studios that have inversted hundreds of thousands of dollars. Because of new digital technolgy, we are able to produce a sound that is competitive with most studios in the world. At the heart of every Dig Dat recording session you will find a Mac Pro + Logic Pro 8 + Apogee Ensemble + Mackie MCU. In addition we leverage a Hart Dynamics 6.4 professional drumkit driven by a Roland TD-12 'brain' and voiced by FXpansion's acclaimed BFD 2. The drums play, feel, and sound like any acoustic kit (of course they can also be made to sound like any electric set as well). Guitars and keyboards jack directly into the Ensemble and we utilize Logic's excellent amplifiers and effects modules to mold the perfect sound. Alternatively, if a musician prefers the sound of their own setup, we can still do that the 'old fashioned way' and mic their amp.
In short, our setup is aimed at enabling musicians who don't own expensive gear to obtain an exensive sound.
For artists who don't have their own equipment or who don't want to lug it to our studio, we offer an expansive and fully cusomtizeable midi soundbank and provide a Radium midi keyboard. Artists can trigger the same BFD drumkit sounds or their own samples in addition to the infinitely customizeable sounds from the soundbank.
For vocalists, Dig Dat offers serveral different microphones to choose from, depending on what sounds the best for their vocal tone. We've also retrofitted one of our mics, an MXL Mogami v69 condenser, with a vintage Mullard 12AT7 tube (still new/unused when we got it, but manufactured in the 60s). This mod takes this normally excellent mic to new heights, giving it an unparalleled sound, ideal for demanding crooners and jazz vocalists, or any vocalist seeking warmth, depth, and clarity.
Our studio is equipped with bass traps and high frequenucy absorbers for optimal 'dry' sound capture.
To be a springboard for artist's musical careers.
Dig Dat is not trying to make instant stars, but rather, build a strong fan base --or as we say foundation-- in the online music industry. Our goal is for the music we create to be a rich source of future revenue for Dig Dat and our artists. This industry is growing by millions of consumers every year and is becoming the dominant outlet for music commerce.

The History
Vaughn Burks has been an entertainer for over 2 decades. Vaughn signed his first recording contract at the age of 16 with a independent label out of Boston called Metro records. The single was called Be My Baby Love. At the time, Vaughn was in a five-man singing group called The Young Generation, managed by Johnny Wright of Transcontenintel Management.
After leaving Young Generation to attend the University of Lowell, Vaughn was offered the opportunity to join a new band called Finest Hour. With Finest Hour, Vaughn and his band members signed a recording deal with a major label, Polygram records. The album was released on the Polydor branch, titled "Make That Move". The band enjoyed modest sales and the title track peaked at 38 on the R&B charts. Vaughn decided to return to college and continue his education after being accepted to the School of Management at Boston University.
The Future
Our next few projects are LA punk band Dead 77 and the Florida-based Gospel/Rock/Soul band Key of David. Dead 77 is in the studio now finishing up the single Agressive Youth. Check them out @ myspace/dead1977. Coming this summer on Dig Data a new sensation in the gospel world, The Key of David.
